Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon David Anderson performed SMILE eye surgery on both of my eyes. I chose Mr Anderson based on his incredible knowledge and experience. However, when I met him, I felt he was definitely the right surgeon for me due to his kind, engaging, informative and reassuring presence.

Mr Anderson has a wonderful way of explaining fine details to his patients in a thorough, educational and personable way. Although my eye surgery was elective, the eyes by nature are a nerve racking organ to have surgery on. Mr Anderson takes his time in all appointments and makes you feel at ease. I have been shortsighted for many years. My favourite pastimes are being in and on the sea. These were becoming difficult to do as I couldn't see well without glasses . And it was impossible to look after my son in the water. Since having collamer lens implants my life has improved immeasurably. I've been snorkelling, surfing and swimming and I have perfect vision! It's been a dream! Recovery was pretty swift. I had light sensitivity and night time halos for about 2 months but they've disappeared now and my eyes feel great. In April underwent PRESBYOND laser blended vision correction with Mr David Anderson and could not be happier with the experience or the results.

From my initial consultation through to the surgery and aftercare, I felt completely reassured and in very safe hands. David has a wonderfully calm and reassuring manner, and every step of the procedure was carefully explained as it happened, which made the whole experience far less daunting than I had imagined.

The procedure itself was quick, 27seconds in my right eye and 6 seconds in my left eye, and the improvement in my vision was remarkable almost immediately. By the following day on my first follow up appointment I was already achieving crisp 6/6 distance vision and N4 near vision.

After a short adaptation period, the blended vision now feels completely natural. My eyes work together seamlessly.

If you are on the fence about laser eye surgery, the SMILE procedure with Dr Anderson is a MUST.
I have always wanted to do LASIK, but they idea of them "cutting open a flap in my eye" always made me too nervous. The SMILE procedure is less invasive, less pain, less dry eyes and the exact same amazing results.

I got it done about 1pm on the Saturday. I had full, 20/20 vision by the Sunday evening (tested and confirmed the Monday).

I had no pain, slight discomfort in one eye on the Sunday (like a contact lens not sitting correctly) but the numbing drops sorted it out within minutes. That was the full extent of any pain I had.

If you are located in Jersey, all the pre and post op appointments are in Jersey, only the actual procedure is in Southampton - as he comes over regularly. Dr Anderson and his staff are extremely professional, caring and so helpful.

The costs are clearly displayed on their website, it is an all inclusive, one off fee that includes everything, so there were no hidden fees or surprises along the way. They also give you all the necessary eye drops for the 2 weeks after surgery, after that I didn't really need any.

My husband is also going to get this done now after my experience. My only regret is not having it done earlier - honestly it is so worth it!

I was not relishing the thought of having my eyes cut about - but cataracts needed doing. Need not have worried. Combination of caring staff and effective sedative meant I cannot remember much at all between arriving and leaving. And on leaving - everything brighter, clearer and in 3D - and, after 40 years, no glasses. Should have got it done then!

I could not have had a better experience at Anderson Eye Care. I have had bilateral lens implants in both eyes.
The main difference between other companies offering the procedure I underwent is that I saw the consultant, Mr Anderson, at every step. The options were explained clearly and I understood exactly what was going to happen during my operation.
On the day, I was put at ease by all the members of staff. I decided not to be sedated., it was a relaxed experience without any pain. I felt comfortable throughout and felt that everyone was focused on me being looked after.
Mr Anderson visited me after the operation to make sure i was happy with what had been done.

I went to Mr Anderson at the Nuffield Hospital in Chandlers Ford for cataract removal and replacement lenses. I had been recommended to see him by several friends.
I have to admit, I was terrified but from my first appointment, I felt much happier about the procedure and Mr Anderson put me completely at my ease.
I opted for sedation, as recommended, because I was nervous and it was the right decision. The procedure, believe it or not, was a really pleasurable experience from the outset. Everyone put me completely at ease and I can’t thank them enough for all their care and attention on the day.
Mr Anderson is a genius! The result is absolutely incredible. I now have fantastic vision and everything is in focus, crystal clear and the thought of never having to wear glasses or contact lenses ever again fills me with joy. Mr Anderson having first examined my eyes explained in simple terms what my options were and reassured be that the op would be painless. As a result I chose to have both eyes done at the same time. I had an amazing experience undergoing laser eye surgery with Anderson Eye Care.

From the very first consultation, everything was extremely thorough, with multiple eye scans and tests carried out so Mr Anderson could provide an accurate, personalised recommendation on the most suitable type of surgery for me.

I was advised and opted to have SMILE surgery on both eyes as I had moderate myopia (around -5.00) and had worn glasses since school age. The procedure was explained in detail, including exactly what I could expect to feel at each stage. Mr Anderson’s expertise and experience were very clear, and I felt completely confident in his care. Mr Bhogal conducted a thorough examination of my eyes to determine my current prescription, so that my vision can be fully corrected during surgery.

The wait for the surgery was only a few weeks. On the day of the procedure, all the staff were warm, friendly, and reassuring, which really helped to ease my nerves. The surgery itself was very straightforward and completely painless. I was able to go home shortly afterwards with my eye drop routine, which was easy to get used to despite the number of drops initially required. Within days, my vision had already improved significantly. Glare from bright lights quickly settled, and I experienced only slight irritation.

Since then, my vision has continued to improve and is now better than ever. I experience no dry eye symptoms, even when working in air-conditioned environments.

I have had an amazing experience having laser eye surgery with Anderson eye care!
The first consultation was very thorough, with multiple eye scans and tests to enable Mr Anderson to give an accurate and personalised recommendation about what type of laser eye surgery I would be most suitable for.
I was recommended to have SMILE surgery to both eyes (I had a high myopia around - 7.00 and have worn glasses since school age).
We discussed the procedure and what it will feel like at each stage. I felt completely confident in Mr Anderson's care and it's clear he has a huge amount of experience.
It was only a few weeks to wait from deciding to go ahead with the procedure and being booked in to have it done.
On the day of the surgery everyone was very warm and welcoming, helping to ease my anxieties. The actual procedure was so straightforward (for me as the patient at least!) and completely painless. I was home very shortly afterwards with my eye drop regime to start. There were a lot of drops to start with but you very quickly get used to popping them in.
Within days my vision was already so much better, glare from bright lights started to settle and I felt very minimal irritation to my eyes.
Since then it has just got better and better. My vision is pretty much perfect, I have no dry eye symptoms despite working long shifts in front of computer screens, and I still forget that I don't have my contact lenses in and that this is my actual vision now!

I had cataract surgery on both eyes back in 2022. Last year one eye became 'fogged up' and I returned to David Anderson for a YAG procedure which was very successful. This year the second eye needed 'defogging' and I contacted David Anderson and again, a very successful outcome. Another plus was that the YAG procedure was completed in just one visit. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend David Anderson and his team for an informative, calm and professional approach to their patients!

By the time I sought treatment I was struggling to read even the top line of an eye chart without glasses and increasingly needed them for work, driving and daily life. Three months after my SMILE surgery my vision is better than 20/20. Both my astigmatism and shortsightedness are now negligible. The surgery itself was seamless, recovery was comfortable and virtually painless and my only ongoing routine is the use of moisturising eye drops which I plan to phase out in the next few months.

Mr Anderson, Smile laser surgery, Excellent from start to finish!

I accompanied my son, 20, who had ReLex SMILE laser surgery in June. He had previously worn glasses as he was short sighted.

We found the pictures, information and video explanations on the Anderson Eye Care website very helpful and informative. It's good to know in advance who your surgeon will be to allow research about them and the venue.

From our initial research, through every point of contact with the team, through consultation, procedure and follow up appointments, all with Mr Anderson himself, all at the same location, everything is very clearly, kindly, knowledgeably and calmly explained with all questions answered.

Considering the prospect of laser eye surgery feels like a very big step beforehand. I felt due to the important nature of his work, Mr Anderson would probably be a very serious person. He's actually very personable and put my son and I at ease when we met him at the initial consultation. We walked out feeling quite relaxed about the whole thing! I felt reassured to know that the follow up appointments were with Mr Anderson himself. That way if anything wasn't exactly as it should be, with his knowledge and experience he'd know. He's done the surgery, he'll know what to do about it. They'll be no toing and froing between different people.

The SMILE surgery is great, I'm so glad my son could have that type due to the quick healing time and lack of possible complications that it offers. Our research took time, but the procedure on the day took less time than buying a box of eggs! My son could see immediately afterwards, although his vision was blurry. His surgery was late afternoon and by the next morning he could see normally! At his second check up one week later his vision was better than 20/20! No more glasses!

The staff at Nuffield Health Chandlers Ford were all friendly and helpful. The facility is easy to find, clean and comfortable with parking right outside. On the day of the procedure we were very well looked after and grateful of the private room to wait in both beforehand and afterwards.

(For comparison and in contrast, I have previously accompanied my other half through laser eye surgery with a high street company where the experience felt much less personal and much more production line, in less comfortable and less private surroundings. The consultation was not with the surgeon. The patient meets the surgeon on the day of surgery, the after care was with different people at a separate location. No continuity. The price was similar, the experience was very different!

My son has his three month check up coming up. Everything is great, his vision is amazing, zero complications, no more specs!
